Nora’s Weight Loss: Done My Time
By
I know I have been a bit quiet, lately. But it isn’t because I haven’t succeeded on my diet. Actually it is quite the opposite. I have kept to the diet and loss more pounds and inches. Yay! So much so that I am needing a new wardrobe because all my clothes are falling off me. It is a good problem! Final weigh in is this week.
.
Diet
Since I have now done my time and completed my 28 day goal, I have decided to take a week off and then go another 28 days in hopes to lose another 10 lbs. (I will be satisfied with 5 lbs.)
I feel this diet is no longer a diet. I really feel this is a life change. I don’t crave pasta, pizza, peanut butter or even dark chocolate (although I will be making a trip to my favorite chocolate shop on my week off). But I get it. This is how I am suppose to eat and occasionally, in moderation, I can have special treats.
I truly enjoy all the beautiful colors I eat daily. I love that I am never hungry. I love that my skin is not as dry as before. I love that I am walking faster and my husband doesn’t have to adjust his pace anymore. I love going into a grocery store and shopping the perimeter. I love that my husband has also accepted this diet–it has made it much easier.
.
Exercise
I think I have mentioned that I hate exercise. Well, this has been my downfall on this plan. I haven’t really exercised in 2 weeks. (Had I, I would probably have loss more inches…I know.) And the thing is, when I was exercising, my back and knees caused me no problems. I felt energized and overall really good. The muscle pain wasn’t even bothering me…well those squats and my thighs that first week…whew! Now that I am not exercising, my back and knee pain has reoccurred. I understand it is something that is good for me and I just need to make it a life change, too.
Why did I stop? I got busy with work and just have made one excuse after another.
I really can’t believe all the excuses I have made. ”I got up too late. I have an early meeting. I am on a rush deadline. I haven’t eaten yet. I just ate and I don’t want a belly ache. It is too late to exercise, I may not sleep.” Everyday, I come up with a new “colorful” excuse.
What excuses do you make? I would love to hear them…

Nora, I am so happy for you!
And I agree getting myself out the door for a run is a great challenge! It’s just too hot out to run, or I’m just too tired to get out of bed are my great excuses I use often. I have found that having a running partner is the best solution because I do not want to let them down by not showing up to run, it’s just the push I need to get me out the front door.
So my advice is get a gym/exercise partner! Come up with a specific schedule each week that you are not allowed to break, because instead of just letting yourself down for not exercising, you will be letting your partner down by not showing up!
Can’t wait to see how you weigh in goes this week!

Hey Nora! I am sooo proud to see how well you have done. Come back to CrossFit. We all miss you there! sometimes I have to trick myself to get to the gym. “I’m just going to go and stretch and do one round of the warm up” Once I get there and stetch and warm up then I say “ok! I’ll do the WOD but I am going to go at my own pace” then I start the WOD and I say “I want to complete this at my best time” Next thing I know. I’ve gone to the gym and did everything that I didn’t feel like doing to start with. Come Back!

Great job Nora! The partner idea is a great one! I come up with excuses all the time. I swear I’m going to go to the gym and then drive right by b/c I’d rather be outdoors and work out from home. Once I get home something comes up that keeps me from truly getting a solid workout. I wouldn’t skip the gym if I had a partner meeting me there!
Keep it up!

Great work Nora! I always say my workout are too routine at the gym and that I need to do something else, which usually means I end up not working out at all. My gym started offering group classes and you have to rsvp for a spot so I found myself attending much more regularly that I have to schedule a specific time.

Hey Nora!!!
:)
First of all, a BIG congratulations on your weight loss…that really is a HUGE accomplishment!! In fact, I believe that’s the hardest part.
The truth is, you know how good exercise is for you, you know how good it makes you feel, and you know that your back and your knees feel ok. Why not? You’ve already succeeded in the most difficult part!! You know you have the discipline for it!!
Just like Jen said, come into Crossfit. You get the best of all worlds in there…a personal trainer, a workout buddy(in most cases, you’ll have multiple buddies), and an already put together workout, with a crowd of motivation!!
Stop making excuses and I hope to meet you at LCCF (or CFHC, if you live downtown)

Thank you everybody for the great, encouraging comments. I am still losing weight and still haven’t been exercising. Thanks to Ian, I have all 365 day’s worth of excuses.
My latest excuse is it is just too hot to be exercising. Heehee.
