NAA is pleased to provide grants to families seeking treatments for their children with autism.  It is our hope that the Helping Hands grants might provide the seed money for a child’s ultimate recovery.  Applications are accepted once yearly, generally between June 1 and July 15, but interested parties should check the website for any updates.
  • Information on the Helping Hands grant program can be found under the tab “Help for Families“.
You might note we have an awesome conference coming up in November!
Unfortunately, we can only fund a small percentage of the applications we receive.  There are some other grants that might possibly be of assistance to your families:
  • Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) also has a grant program for biomedical treatments for families who have been members for six months or more.  It’s a good idea to join a local chapter (no cost) and start benefitting from the member benefits, including parent mentors.  TACA has a grant program for families in crisis as well:    http://www.talkaboutcuringautism.org/fic/fic_overview.htm

Chlorella, single-celled fresh water algae, is often referred to as a near-perfect food, as its range of health benefits is truly astounding. In this interview, Ginny Bank expounds on this phenomenal nutrient.

Chlorella is perhaps most well known for its ability to detox your body by binding to toxins, such as mercury and carrying them out of your system.

But that’s not all this green algae is good for.

According to Ginny, chlorella can also be of great benefit to vegetarians and vegans who want proteins and B vitamins from a non-animal source. Chlorella is about 60 percent protein, and is considered to be a “complete protein” source because it contains all the essential amino acids your body needs.

Other health benefits include:

· Repairing nerve tissues

· Enhancing your immune system and reducing your cancer risk

· Improving digestion

· Promoting healthy pH levels in your gut, which in turn helps good bacteria to thrive

· Enhancing your ability to focus and concentrate

· Increasing your energy levels

· Normalizing your blood sugar and blood pressure

BEWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING ON YOUR SKIN & HAIR

Our skin is by far the largest organ and the cosmetic and personal-care industry is doing it great harm, using a number of common ingredients that are or can be cancer-causing agents (or just plain dangerous). Because the skin is permeable, such ingredients harm not only the skin itself, but can penetrate into the body, causing internal damage as well.

Almost everyday we unknowingly expose ourselves to these toxins that we believe to be coming from safe and honest cosmetic companies. So how is it that these companies can put on the market products that are potentially toxic? The FDA, in 1938, granted self-regulation to the cosmetics industry giving them ability to choose what is going into their products, regardless of what tests on them show. Most of the 25,000 chemicals used in the products have not been extensively tested for long-term effects on the body.

For those that think they are playing it safe with “natural” products, you may want to think again. Because there is a lack of regulations on what can be labeled “natural”, many cosmetic companies have used this term on products that contain additives and other ingredients with the same negative effects as the products they are claiming to replace.

The following list is compiled of the “worst offenders” that are in your cosmetic and personal skin care products at home:

Long time, no post!

Hey Everyone!!!
I know I haven’t posted in quite a while. I haven’t posted because I have been off the bandwagon.
I have, however been cancelling certain things that Dr. Tiff and I discussed getting out of my diet, ie croutons. I am a crouton addict but, I have not eaten them since I saw her last. Instead, the Kalvi crackers really do the trick. Also, if anyone else loves the Kalvi crackers, there are garlic ones too that are SUPER DELISH!!! :)
One of my biggest concerns when I spoke with her was getting better at the gym. Well, my times have skyrocketed!! I must be doing something right! :)
I hope everyone’s journey is going well. Thanks for all the motivating words! Will try to post more often!!!

Recent studies have found that more than half of all Americans are suffering from 1-5 chronic illnesses. Although these statistics reveal an alarming situation, it should be no surprise that the Western diet, full of acidic food and beverages, is to blame.

Here are some shocking facts:

  • Cases of Colon Disease have never been more Prevalent. According to the highly reputable Merck Manual, colon degeneration and disease is on the rise.  More specifically, the incidence of diverticulosis, a type of hernia, has increased dramatically over the past 40 years.  In 1950, only 10% of Americans had this disease, but that number had already grown to nearly 50% by 1987.
  • Colon Cancer Kills 400% more People than AIDS. It also kills even more American men and women than breast and prostate cancer.
  • Just this year alone, 60,000 Americans will die from Colon-Rectal Cancer. An additional 125,000 cases of the disease will be diagnosed, as well.
  • Up to half of all Americans have Polyps in their Colon. The majority of these polyps will eventually mutate into malignant cancer tumors.

Although reading these facts may be unnerving, they should inspire you to be proactive and take the necessary steps to becoming one less statistic!
