The end of the school year is an exciting time for students, parents, and teachers. As the school year comes to a close, it can be a challenge to keep focused on what’s important and not get derailed by kids getting anxious to get the summer started.
Here are some tips on how to transition into summer while keeping your family focused throughout the end of school year chaos.
- Stay focused and on schedule. Stick to morning and afternoon rituals until the last day of school so your child will take these habits into the next school year.
- Your child’s time in the classroom is valuable right up to the last day of the school year. Avoid the impulse to focus on upcoming summer activities instead ask your child about what they did in school today and what needs to be completed.
- Think about different incentives you can offer your child for their continued effort at school during these final weeks ie; extra 1/2 hr outside to play, visit to the ice cream parlor or extra family tv time.
- Stay focused by having your child make a handmade gift for their teachers as a last day of school memorable, it will help your child feel he did something special for someone you both care about.
